Desert · Sahara Desert, Morocco
MDS Legendary
A desert event with approximately 250 km across six stages. Participants carry their own food and equipment.
Before you make plans
The 2 to 12 April dates are the published trip, not six race days in a row. Every 2027 offer was on a waiting list when we checked.
Eleven days, six racing stages
The page describes an 11-day programme in Morocco, with about 250 km over six stages. Day 1, Friday 2 April, is the transfer to the desert bivouac. Day 2 is for technical and medical checks. The racing days follow, and the long stage is described as spread over two days.
The return includes a night in Ouarzazate, a free day with the prize-giving, and departure on Monday 12 April. Use those dates for flights. Do not treat 2 April as the first stage.
The page shows one set of stage distances from the 2025 edition: 32 km, 40 km, 32.5 km, 80 to 90 km, 42 km and 21.1 km. It says the 2027 route and the exact distances are in the road book, given at the bivouac two days before the start. The 2025 figures are an example, not this edition’s course.
Food, water and the road book
Food and equipment are self-sufficient. Water on the course and the tent are supplied. You still need your own sleeping bag. Checkpoints are described as roughly every 10 km for water.
The mandatory-equipment section says you must carry at least 12,000 kcal, about 2,000 kcal a day. A later food section lists meals from dinner on 2 April to lunch on 10 April, asks for a minimum of 2,000 kcal a day from 5 to 10 April, and says the last race day has no calorie minimum while still needing breakfast and lunch. Those statements do not collapse into one shopping list. Pack from the current regulations, then use the technical check.
The organiser describes time cutoffs at 3.5 km/h. Until the road book fixes the stage distances, that pace is not a timetable you can finish at home.
Flights, hotels and papers
Two offers are listed: €3,990 with a standard hotel, and €4,390 with the Berbère Palace. Both include the bib, two half-board nights in Ouarzazate after the race, water, medical support during the race, repatriation assistance and eight bivouac nights. Flights are not included. Nights in Ouarzazate before the desert transfer are your own cost.
If you fly into Marrakech, the page lists organised transfers on the mornings of 31 March and 1 April. Return buses leave Ouarzazate at 06:00 on 12 April, so a Marrakech flight needs to depart after 14:00. An Ouarzazate flight can be any time that day, and the hotel-to-airport transfer is yours to arrange.
The page requires the original medical certificate and a resting ECG, on paper, dated on or after 2 March 2027. It says photocopies are not accepted. All published 2027 offers were fully booked, with a waiting list, when this page was checked.
Official information checked 3 October 2026. Entry availability is not updated live on this page. Distances, prices and ascent can change with course revisions.
