Original event history

The original Running for Good Ultra.

A record of the desert event once promoted on this domain, its purpose, and how its published plans changed between 2021 and 2023.

Historical record

This page describes the former event. Running for Good Ultra is now an independent publication and does not organise or take entries for that race.

Running with a wider purpose

The original site presented a collaboration involving Fiona Oakes and Mohamad Ahansal in Morocco. Its message linked running with environmental concerns, animal welfare and opportunities for local runners.

In an April 2021 statement, Oakes described using sport to draw attention to issues affecting people and the environment. The event was part of that broader Running for Good idea.

What the archived pages show

What the archived pages show
Publication periodWhat was advertised
2021365 km over seven days in Morocco, with 22 October 2021 shown on the homepage.
2022250 km over seven days in the Sahara, plus a 150 km Challenge option.
2023 capturesThe site still displayed 2022 event information. A capture date is not an event date.

A virtual challenge and local projects

The archived Get involved page offered a 150 km virtual challenge over seven days in October 2021. It said money raised would go to the Fiona Oakes Foundation and Mohamad’s Boutyous school project.

The same page described education projects near Zagora and linked to the Trans Sahara Marathon. These were historical announcements. The pages we reviewed do not establish how much was raised or which projects were completed.

The dates need some context

The later site header showed 20 October 2022. The itinerary used that date for arrival in Marrakech, then listed seven race stages from 23 to 29 October, followed by return travel.

The archived material establishes what was promoted. It does not, by itself, verify which editions took place, their results, or a current event schedule.
