What the old page listed
The archived list covered a small backpack, headlamp with spare batteries, signalling and navigation items, sun protection, an emergency blanket, snacks and a hydration system with at least three litres of capacity.
It also described foot-care and medical items. We have not reproduced those as current recommendations. Personal medical decisions and present-day race requirements need current advice.
Sleeping arrangements
The page instructed participants to bring a sleeping bag and said the organisation would supply sleeping mats. This is a detail of that historical event, not a standard arrangement for desert races.
Packing for a race now
Use your current organiser’s mandatory list. Our general ultra kit guide can help you organise it, while the desert packing guide explains which questions to ask about food, baggage and camp supplies.
